Handheld Portable XRF Spectrometer - QualiX-2000 Series are widely applied in accurate and non-destructive detection on a variety of precious metal alloys, low alloy steel, stainless steel, tool steel, electronic components, batteries, toys, stationery, children's products, minerals, raw ore, etc. You can identify material composition and alloy grade.
The QualiX-2000 is used in many applications for accurate and non-destructive analysis of virtually any kind of sample including steel and stainless-steel alloys, precious metals and minerals, electronic components, toys, food products, stationery, and much more. It is suitable for use in a lab environment, or on the shop floor or in the field by use of the included shoulder and wrist straps. The QualiX-2000 is ideal for verification of incoming materials, determining the nature of an unknown sample, identifying a particular grade of alloy, or for ensuring that toxic compounds are within allowable limits for specification compliance (e.g. RoHS, NSF, CBCC, etc.).
The analysis is as easy as placing the detector directly against the sample, then depressing and holding the trigger. The built-in 5” touch screen will immediately start to display the elements that are present and their relative mounts as a percentage, with accuracy improving the longer the test is conducted. The unit is also pre-loaded with libraries of common materials and alloys and will identify the material grade if it is contained within the libraries.
The QualiX-2000 series can be supplied in 2 configurations:
QualiX-2000-A
Alloy Analysis – Specialised for the analysis and detection of elements in pure and alloy metal samples; provides lower detection limits configuration to allow for the detection of minute amounts of alloying elements; well suited to manufacturers, fabricators, welders, or others dealing mainly with metals.
QualiX-2000-M
Mineral Analysis – Specialized for geological analysis of minerals and ores; provides lower detection limits configuration to allow for the detection of trace amounts of minerals and elements
As described in ASTM E1621, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry is used in the determination of metallic and non-metallic elements present in solid and liquid samples. XRF detectors operate by bombarding a sample with high-energy X-rays which ionize the atoms and cause electrons from within the inner orbital shells of the atoms to be ejected into outer shells. This causes instability within the atom such that an electron from an outer orbital shell falls into the inner orbital to take the place of the ionized electron. As an electron drops from an outer, high-energy orbital into an inner, low-energy orbital, the difference in energy is released in the form of a photon. This released energy is characteristic of the electron orbitals and atoms present in the sample. A detector collects the emitted photons and categorizes them based on the energy level of the radiation; the relative intensity of each wavelength of characteristic radiation indicates the proportion of the elements in the sample.
